The newest addition to Church Street, Cupcakes by Carousel, hosted their ribbon cutting ceremony this afternoon. Mayor Jerry Fried, photographer Phil Cantor, Dick Grabowsky, and the Cupcakes by Carousel family, including co-owners Nancy Finkelstein, Howy Lefkowitz, and David Finkelstein were in attendance. Truman the Dinosaur also made a special guest appearance.
Inside the sweet shop, guests enjoyed mini cupcakes, cake pops, coffee, and cappuccino.
The interior of the shop is bright and friendly with pastels. And the sweets? Scrumptious! Of course, there are the Signature Cupcakes priced at $2.95 each, and perhaps the most indulgent offering - icing shots ($1.25/$1.50 with toppings)!
A stroke of dessert genius is undoubtedly the UpCakes priced at $3.95. Picture, if you will, a cupcake as a push pop. This mess-minimizing re-packaging of the traditional cupcake, takes the form of a cupcake encased within a cylindrical container with a mechanism that allows one to gradually push the cake up while the crumbs are contained. A great way to keep the car clean! Love it!
Cupcakes by Carousel is no one-trick pony; they also offer beautiful gourmet layer cakes, including tiramisu, napoleon, and their best seller, apple berry crisp cake, in addition to a huge variety of pies.
As Hot From The Kettle reported in January, Carousel Cakes, the parent company of Cupcakes by Carousel, is a successful veteran of the baking business. Carousel Cakes, has been making and selling cakes wholesale for over thirty years, and also happens to be the maker and baker of Oprah’s favorite red velvet cake featured in O Magazine.
In addition to the new Cupcakes by Carousel at 25 Church St., Cupcakes by Carousel also operates a shop in Ridgewood and Englewood, NJ. Cupcakes by Carousel will not bake at the Montclair premise, but rather at the Carousel baking location in Nanuet, NY. From there, the confections will be delivered fresh, daily to all three shops.
