Beginning next Monday, February 18, Hot From The Kettle will be bringing our restaurant news coverage and videos to an expanded audience on Devil Gourmet.

The same Hot From The Kettle team, including John Lee, Dianne Wenz and myself, joined by well known bloggers, Anthony Scillia and Veronique Deblois, in addition to a new voices, Brenda Ty and Gregg Corcan, will round out the Devil Gourmet blogger contingent.

HotFromTheKettle.com will continue be a site for food enthusiasts, particularly those interested in pork curing, bread baking, and all things artisanal.

Meatless Monday - Betty Goes Vegan

The vegan community has been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Betty Goes Vegan by Annie and Dan Shannon, and happily it hit bookshelves last week. The Shannons' veganization of the classic 1950s red Betty Crocker cookbook has been wildly popular on the couple's Meet the Shannons website, and they were recently featured in a spread in Vegetarian Times magazine. The even made an appearance on the Today Show last week, cooking up vegan dishes with Kathy Lee and Hoda.

"Montclair The Show" Premieres at Montclair Art Museum

This Thursday, February 7, 2013, the Montclair Art Museum will host the first public premiere of Montclair's docu-travel show, Montclair The Show directed by Mido Emad. 

The first screening will be at 5:30 pm in Leir Hall, and the second screening will be at 9:00 pm, also in Leir Hall.

Can't make it to the premiere?  No worries. Four thousand DVDs of Montclair The Show will be available for purchase in local shops and businesses.

Destination Montclair is also airing a segment hosted by Katya Wowk, where Mido and Melody (that's me!) discuss the making of Montclair The Show.  Watch the segment below:

Meatless Monday at Trend Coffee and Tea House

While I don’t make it down to the east end of Bloomfield Avenue very often, it seems every time I have been down in that direction Trend Coffee and Tea House has had a “closed for renovations” sign in the window. With no indication that anything was actually going on inside, I was sure they had closed their doors for good. (In fact their page on Yelp says it has closed.) A friend’s recent Facebook post cued me in to the fact that they had reopened, so I decided to check it out.

Fricasseè French Bistro Prepares to Open in Montclair

In December, HFTK broke the story on Mark Papera's return to Montclair to resurrect Epernay, his former space, as a new French bistro.

Since that time, Papera and his crew have been renovating 6 Park Street at a rapid clip. New sheet rock and fresh paint, a new mosaic tile floor, new lighting, a new kitchen, and soon, a new awning, will announce Montclair's newest restaurant, Fricassee French Bistro!
