Coal v. Wood: Millie's Old World Meatballs & Pizza, Morristown, NJ

The aroma engulfs you as you open the door, reminiscent of Nonna’s kitchen, which is apropos as Millie’s Old World Meatballs & Pizza in Morristown is an homage to the owners', brothers Vince and Brandon Carrabba's, grandmother Millie who’s meatballs share the spotlight along with both wood and coal fired pizzas.

A welcoming brick façade with plenty of windows showcasing the vibrant scene inside and complementary valet parking warmed our spirits on a very chilly evening before we even entered the establishment. Although it’s a BYO there’s definitely a party vibe in Millie’s on a Friday evening.  Families, groups of teens, couples on dates; the place was full, the music was pumping and the dueling ovens were roaring!

Popping-Up On Walnut Street

Not as pretentious as Church Street,  nor as urban as Bloomfield Ave., Walnut Street is hip, diverse, artsy, and embodies that certain je ne sais quoi of Montclair cool.   

It's of little surprise that local entrepreneurs, Selma Avdicevic (owner of Woolly Boo) and Helene Richman (owner of brandhelene), chose Walnut Street  for their first Montclair Pop- Up.  The Montclair Pop-Up 2013,  located at 102 Walnut Street, will open on  Friday, November 22.

"You Have A Groupon, Right?" At Saveur Creole, Montclair

Haitian cuisine seemed an appropriate selection in the midst of a sweltering NJ heat wave.  So, with that in mind, Saveur Creole was set as our Ladies Night dining destination.  

Located in a inconspicuous, little spot on Grove Street, Saveur Creole is a Montclair BYO that serves "une novelle cuisine Hatienne"  in a Caribbean inspired atmosphere (envision a smaller, finer version of Cuban Pete's with more comfortable chairs).
