What pairs better with food: wine or beer? That age-old culinary conundrum will finally be answered on Thursday, October 17th at Amanti Vino's highly anticipated "Cru vs. Brew" dining event!

The competition will pit famed brewmaster Garrett Oliver of Brooklyn Brewery against Robert Sinskey, owner/vintner of Robert Sinskey Vineyards and a pioneer in organic and biodynamic winemaking. Partnering with Robert Sinskey on the wine side will be Steve Matthiasson, a top Napa Valley viticulturist who was named a "Winemaker of the Year" byFood & Wine magazine. For each of five sumptuous courses created by Ariane Duarte of Montclair's CulinAriane, Oliver, Matthiasson and Sinskey will pair one of their signature libations ... and guests will debate and vote, by paddle, on a winner.

"This is the most exciting event Amanti Vino has ever hosted -- it's truly unprecedented for foodies as well as wine and beer lovers," notes sommelier Sharon Sevrens, proprietor of Amanti Vino.

"The boxing gloves are likely to come off early as the two sides battle for votes!" she declared. "There is no greater authority on domestic beer than Garrett Oliver, and we're honored to have him come back to Montclair. Rob Sinskey is a pioneer in the biodynamic movement and has always been one of our favorites, Steve Matthiasson is best known for his outstanding viticultural work but has also made a name for himself with his gorgeous wines, mostly made from unusual varietals."
