The former site of Mondo and, previously, Gencarelli's Cucina, at 381 Bloomfield Avenue, is now home to Montclair's newest restaurant, Chatni Indian Restaurant.

Whoopi Goldberg Dines at Indigo Kitchen, Montclair

Celebrity and West Orange resident, Whoopi Goldberg, dropped into Montclair's Indigo Kitchen for a bite to eat.
According to chef and owner of Indigo Kitchen, Lance Knowling, Whoopi was very nice and loved the various works of art displayed at Indigo which were painted by Lance's mother.
As for the food, Whoopi ordered BBQ chicken tacos, several sides and dessert.
Meatless Monday at HLS Juice Bar and Grill
HLS stands for Health Love and Soul. The restaurant is owned by brothers Arinze and Emeka and they are dedicated to serving food that is not only delicious, but also nutritious. They believe that since you are what you eat, you should be eating the best foods possible. They see the need in today’s society for fresh, wholesome food and are ready to fill it.
The atmosphere at HLS is warm and colorful, with an artsy flair. It’s the kind of place that you’d like to hang out in for a few hours. This is a low-key establishment, so don’t expect anything fancy, but HLS serves delicious, healthy food at a reasonable price, so it's a good place to have a causal meal with friends.
Miss This? Francesco Palmieri of The Orange Squirrel on CBS 2 New York
Chef Francesco PalmieriGood friend of Hot From The Kettle, and featured chef of the Montclair Food and Wine Festival Francesco Palmieri of Bloomfield's Orange Squirrel was on CBS 2 New York this morning sharing what is sure to be a favourite recipe : King Salmon Pinwheels.
As a part of the local station's Superfood Series, Chef Palmieri included Salmon as the featured superfood, and added Spinach, Garlic and Pomegranates. (who ever knew that eating good could taste so good!) The salmon pinwheels are served over a spinach cream and dressed with wilted spinach. (I'm kvelling, I'm already seeing the opportunity to turn that spinach cream into a creamy spinach soup, as well as a vegan soup, but that's a later post for Meatless Monday, let's get back to the recipes!

Meatless Monday - Curried Pumpkin Peanut Soup
This soup is one of the dishes I made at the recent team Hot From the Kettle cooking demos at Williams Sonoma, and it was a big hit. It's hearty enough to served as meal, but in small amounts it also makes an excellent appetizer.
