Albert's Montclair: Closed? Temporarily?

by Melody Kettle

UPDATE:

According to a spokesperson for Albert's Montclair, the closing "is permanent and for sale. Basically too little and too late. September, as expected, was dismal and the break even was too high."

The restaurant, and everything in it, is for sale.  The asking price is $300,000 (negotiable) with seven years left on the lease.  According to the spokesperson, the landlord will offer a new lease to a qualified operator.

This just in: Albert's Montclair appears to be "temporarily closed for renovations."

Prior to becoming "Albert's Montclair," the beautiful space at 32 Church Street was Cafe Amici, prior to that it was 32 Church, and prior to that it was Taro.

We have reached out to Albert's and will update as soon as more information is available.

This follows a string of Montclair closings that include Trend, Montclair Station and Sweet Potato & Pecan.

Thank you to our HFTK tipster!

(It happens!)
