Summer Recipe: Heirloom Tomato Bruschetta

Below is my recipe for Heriloom Tomato Bruschetta, one of my favorite summer dinner party starters. Its perfect because you can mix up the tomatos and slice the bread in advance, then just before your guests arrive you can throw it all together and leave it out for everyone to enjoy. Make sure you put out some plates or napkins, these can be very messy (in the best way).

Finally, Figs!

I waited patiently for many months, and finally the day has come: the figs are ready for picking! 

This is the first time I will be picking figs from these trees - well, sort of. I consider these to be heirloom figs. 

I'll explain: When my great-grandfather, Angelo "Charlie" Dalessio, came over from Italy he brought a fig tree with him.  Maybe it was a shoot, but this is how the story goes.
