With many New Jersey residents still without power, water and food, Chakra (W 144 Route 4, Paramus, NJ, www.chakrarestaurant.com, 201-556-1530) is holding a special wine dinner benefiting Sandy relief efforts on November 12 at 6:30pm with a portion of the proceeds donated to the Community Food Bank of New Jersey, which has been working to respond to the needs of the many local residents affected by the devastation.
“Thankfully, except for a power outage, Chakra was not damaged in the hurricane. We want to give back to our community and give others an opportunity to contribute and help as well,” said the restaurants’ GM/Beverage Director Evelyn Ciszak, who conceived the dinner with Chakra’s chef/partner Thomas Ciszak.
The dinner will start at 6:30pm with a wine and passed hors d’oeuvres reception followed by a four course dinner with Justin winery wines that Evelyn paired with Chef Thomas Ciszak’s menu of Diver Scallops with roasted pumpkin, apple and bacon powder; Glazed Duck with yams, brussels sprouts and cranberry jus; Braised Short Ribs with roasted beets, celery and horseradish and a cheese course finale.
$25 of each $79 ticket (plus tax & gratuity) will be donated to the Community Food Bank of New Jersey by Chakra restaurant.
